General Buyer Questions

There are 4 primary questions almost every Buyer asks. Based on these 4 questions, you (the seller) need to work with your Broker to properly answer them and instill confidence.

Make sure you have prepared a complete and honest answer for why you are selling. Have you been running the business for 30 years and are ready to finally retire to a beach in Florida? Do you need to relocate in order to be closer to family? Are you ready for your next adventure? Whatever the reason, make sure you can clearly articulate it to a Buyer.

Make sure you and your Broker can clearly show how much money the business makes.

Most Buyers need to receive THREE things from the business acquisition:

  1. Sufficient cash flow to service debt incurred in buying the business.
  2. Enough left over to support themselves & their family.
  3. A decent cash-on-cash return.

Ensure you can help the Buyer understand the potential your business has. Are there new product or service lines they could launch that past customers have been begging for? Could a few new pieces of equipment open up new offerings? Would the addition of a killer salesperson help close more deals? Whatever it may be, help them understand the GROWTH potential available to them.

Ensure that you and your Broker can justify the price. By using Federal tax return data, properly recasting the financials, and using recent market comparables, Justin will leverage sophisticated software to determine a competitive and justifiable price that a Buyer can clearly comprehend.
